My E-Newsletter & Me: The Journey Begins

I’ve been writing e-newsletters for my clients but have been without my own for quite a while.

I knew I needed one to keep my name in front of clients and prospects and inform them of my ever-expanding repertoire of capabilities and projects. Finally, after putting up my also long overdue Web site, I was ready.

Being a writer, my first thought was the copy. That was relatively easy to knock out. Then, I brought in my designer to create a template. Again, that was painless, as the e-newsletter graphics reflect the Web site.

Big businesses spend millions of dollars on branding their names, focusing on being everywhere and playing the odds that consumers will eventually notice their product or service when the time is right. As a small, but growing business, I do not have that luxury nor do I have the budget to accomplish that task. So I decided over 2 years ago to use the Internet to communicate and stay connected with my audience. I made a commitment to create an email newsletter in January of 2003 and oh… how it has grown. But now in 2005 with spam guards and blacklists more and more small businesses wonder if email marketing is worth it.

I was shopping for shoes to go with my New Year’s Eve dress last month. How I love to find cute shoes, but they need to be comfortable. As I glanced around, I found myself envious of some of the women around me who seemed to walk effortlessly in shoes over 2 inches. If you’re one of those women – wow! As for me I have to find something a little lower. I am one of those women that by the end of the night I’m still on the dance floor but my shoes are tucked under the table.
