Cyber Monday Proves the Importance of Mobile

Cyber Monday Proves the Importance of Mobile

We’ve been preaching the importance of mobile technology for some time now and the results of this year’s Cyber Monday only serve to solidify our position: if you have not yet developed a mobile strategy for your business, now’s the time! The IBM Digital Analytics Benchmark report has been released, depicting data from 800 US online retailers and it is clear that mobile shopping is on the rise!

Overall, Cyber Monday sales accounted for 25% of the total projected online sales for the 2013 holiday season, with a grand total of $2.29 billion according to the Adobe Digital Index. As astonishing as this statistic is, it is the mobile shopping data that truly has jaws dropping. Up an incredible 55% from last year, over 17% of yesterday’s online sales were attributed to mobile shopping. What’s more, tablet shoppers in particular made a huge impact, accounting for 11.7% of all sales, with tablet users spending an average of $126.30, compared to the $106.49 spent by smartphone users.

These statistics prove that online shoppers continue to choose mobile platforms over desktops more and more, even for purchases as important as holiday gifts. Thus, it’s increasingly crucial for e-commerce sites to go mobile, or better yet responsive!

Haven’t yet developed a mobile site and strategy for your e-commerce business? Let Technology Therapy help you make 2014 the year you go mobile!
