How to Change a LinkedIn Link Preview

New to LinkedIn or simply want to elevate your business’s LinkedIn content? You’re in the right place! Join us in this step-by-step tutorial for changing a link preview on LinkedIn.

Changing a Link Preview Checklist

Follow these steps to customize a link preview on a LinkedIn post for your business.

1. Create a Post

Navigate to your business’s LinkedIn profile and click on “create a post.” Next, type in the text you want to include in the post, as well as relevant hashtags.

2. Include a Link

Copy the URL of the link you want to include and paste it into the field at the very end of the caption text. As soon as you add the link, you’ll see the title of the article you’re linking to as well as the feature image associated with it. LinkedIn lets you tweak both the article title that shows in the preview image as well as the image itself.

3. Changing the Link Preview

Click on the pencil icon at the top right of the preview image. Type in a new article title in the relevant field, if you wish to change it to something else on your LinkedIn post. If you would like to change the preview image, click on the camera button upper right corner. This will open a new window where you can choose the custom image you want to replace the default image with. Click “done” to return to the previous “post preview” screen on LinkedIn.

4. Remove the URL from the Caption

Another LinkedIn trick is to delete the URL you originally typed into the caption field. (The post will still hyperlink to the page you want it to, but the caption will look cleaner and more concise.) Then click on the “post” button to publish your new post to your business’s LinkedIn profile.

Tweaking a LinkedIn post link’s image and article title is a simple way to infuse your content with more creativity and personalization.
